The fine folks over at Pixel Preacher were in need of an intro animation for a teaching series about the life of David. The brief for “Shadow King” was quite open, so I worked with Pixel Preach to flesh out the concept, story, and script.

The story of David is a rich and complex character study and cautionary tale of a humble shepherd to ascended to prominence under the shadow of King Saul, eventually becoming one of the greatest rulers of Israel.

The arc of his life’s story traverses both the light and the dark… humility before God and the brokenness of his sin.

Our visuals will play deeply off of this interplay between light and shadow. Gracefully camera moves around abstract figurative spline shapes will reveal their true forms through the shadows they cast.
