A multi sport super-athlete, Paul Robeson won an academic scholarship to Rutgers College in 1915, the third African-American student ever enrolled at Rutgers. He was twice named a consensus All American in football and played in the precursor to the NFL. Robeson went on to become a powerful activist, performer, and political figure.
