Making a Difference

An old man stood watching a young boy making his way along the beach. A terrible storm had ravished the coastline, littering it with thousands of sea stars, once in a while the boy would lean over, pick up a sea star & throw it back to the ocean.

Eventually this tiny figure came close enough for the man who asked the boy why he would waste his energy rescuing those few sea stars when thousands of them could not be helped, "you can't possibly make a difference" he stated. The boy, surprised at such a question replied, 'why sir, I may not be able to save each & every sea star however I made a world of difference to the ones I did save".
