During my first semester within second year, a group of us teamed up to create ‘Orbital Productions’ which can be found @orb_prod on Instagram where we document our creative process of our short film “UNSEEN”.

A story about Nora, a young adult with an overprotective single mother. Her life was turned upside down after an accident which took her ability to see. She now has to learn to cope with her new lifestyle. Encouraging us to understand what life is like for someone who is visually impaired.

After being told what to do and what to wear since the day of her accident, Nora decides Its time to take her responsibility for her own life. Her mother ventures out leaving Nora alone in isolation. This is where Nora decides to go on an adventure out into the world to meet her friends and we get to be a part of her journey and be enlightened by her story.

The film’s biggest highlight is to emphasize the struggle of having an overprotective parent combined with the real hardship of losing your sight. Nora’s character is to be very honest and gullible, drawing sympathy yet admiration from her friends. Not everything is negative and even if it is you can turn the situation around by just looking at it through a different lens. Nora’s character is the hope we all need to inspire in our lives that’s why Nora’s mother represents us the audience giving the film this great contrast in a metaphorical way.

I was the producer, SFX makeup artist and coordinator for our online platform. Taking on the role of a producer has taught me that you've got to try and be a jack of all trades, as ultimately your one main job is to make sure your team is prepared come shoot day and that everything can run as smoothly as possible.

In addition, "UNSEEN" allowed me to further my side hobby of SFX makeup and further cement my organisational and leadership skills with the creating an online platform to serve as our digital journal.
