Vector Time
The objective was to create a vector-based, photorealistic recreation of a timepiece. Going from simple shapes to something you can’t tell apart from the picture is a tall order, but this is something I have been working towards.
I started by picking out a watch. I wanted one I liked and would be willing to wear but also fit the project's parameters. I went with a rose gold Avenue watch. Then came the sketches. I started by sketching the entire watch, then moved on to singular pieces of it to capture more detail.

I then began designing it in Illustrator. The watch face went very smoothly, and I moved through it somewhat fast. However, I got a bit stuck on the lugs and band. I wasn’t sure how to start on the shading, since I saw no definite shapes. I got some feedback and learned how to make the shades flow.
Since then, I have struggled with the pattern of the band. I attempted making random dots, which is what the pattern is if you look closely, but it just looked like polka dots. I decided to end with a simple gradient to show the highlights of the band. Although I had many ups and downs during this project, the time flew, and I learned a lot in the process.
