Meet the National Forum on the Prevention of Cyber Sexual Abuse (NFPCSA), a grant-funded project supported by the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and hosted by Tufts University. The NFPCSA aims to build a shared understanding of how digital violence is perpetrated and strategies for its prevention. The main purpose of this project was to bring visuals to the digital collection of writings found on their PubPub web page. Sexual abuse is a sensitive and triggering topic, so my goal for this design project was to keep the feeling of hopefulness alive. We often see ominous or violent imagery paired with sexual abuse; instead, I utilized bright-colored florals to signify hope and to invite people into the topic. The garden theme conveys messages that prevention starts at the roots and focuses on the growth and change that can happen.
