God is a Woman | Playbill Graphic

A close friend of mine ,Nicky M. Maggio asked to do a Playbill design for his newest project. God is a Woman is a theatrical production being performed during the annual New York Fringe Festival.
Nicky came to me with the script and a vague idea of what he was looking for to represent this production. He knew it should be street level work, using buzz words like, graffiti, spray cans, cages, and animals, all to be translated as grunge. A design where you can almost feel the different textures building upon one another.

I wanted to take his street idea base and create something that almost felt rushed and instantaneous, rather than something clean, and eloquent. From the very beginning of my research I knew I wanted there to be a level of imperfection, allowing for the striking imagery and character to show through this fog.

This is a play of strange and interwoven characters who play different roles in a series of crimes intended to shake the status quo. As they help, hurt, love, discover, and destroy one another, they find that their convictions about who is pulling the strings in their lives are sorely misplaced and severely misinformed. This satirical play is tragic and funny, but mostly tragic.
I don't want to give away too much of this amazing journey, you will have to go see the play for yourself, I promise you will not be disappointed. http://www.fringenyc.org/ is where you can stay up to date on all things God is a Woman.
