Romeo and Juliet

I was greatly inspired by some artists such as Hayez, Munch, and Banksy whom all had focused on love in their paintings.
I personally thought that love which could not work out due to the environment or death has a greater effect on the viewer as they feel pity towards the hopeless love. I was inspired by this and tried to express both sides of a boy and a girl not wanting to break apart as they love each other so much so strives to be together but have to face separation like Romeo and Juliet.
In order to show unsuccessful love, I separated the boy and the girl in each side and made the background getting darker to show a harbinger which could bring them sad ending. When they are in the middle together, the background is fully red to imply passionate love. My original intention was to cut out the bottom part of the human figures as the screen came out bigger than I thought. However, with the background reaching only until their upper part, it created an effect as if the viewer are seeking their story from the window so I decided to keep the bottom part.
