The XXI century is a century of technology. This newly formed domain of science caused a
great impact on nowadays reality - changing its culture and people. It has also influenced a
variety of public utilities which function has to be redefined. That is how the media libraries
came into existence as a spaces of multidimensional meetings. They are not only the
contemporary public facility but also spaces of cultural circulation and recreation where
science, technology and culture meet. The Media Library in Tarnów is such a space. It
connects social function with knowledge and technique.
