Every year on March 31st at 8:30pm, people around the world turn off their lights to save energy: it's the Earth Hour.
To contribute with this important act, Volkswagen will turn off their thousands of websites and replace by a simple black page with the message to the world.
But how do we know people are really going to contribute to Earth Hour turning off their lights?
They are invited to enable their webcams, therefore our website can identify the light intensity.
But the users need to turn off the light switch in order to interact...
After the light intensity recognition, a personalized message appears on the screen with the amount of people who are connected on our website contributing with this simple act: turning off their lights and saving energy together.
Through a Facebook connection, the website will show how many people are simultaneously participating, and automatically share your own contribution back to the social networks.
